Cobb AccessPort Subaru Ascent
For those not completely familiar with the Ascent, it is powered by a Turbocharged 2.4L Direct Injected 4-cylinder engine, dubbed the FA24F. With emissions and mileage standards becoming more and more strict, manufacturers are moving away from large displacement engines towards smaller displacement turbocharged power plants. The FA24F engine fits right in where the 6-Cylinder EZ36 died off, providing the same horsepower rating with an additional ~30 lb/ft of torque.
FA24F Engine details:
Factory power has been rated at 260hp & 277 lb/ft of torque at the crank. Comparing to an FA20 found in the 2015+ WRX the FA24F uses a larger bore and piston size, moving from 86mm to 94mm. This brings the engine stroke ratio of the FA24 to an “oversquare” configuration, where the bore diameter is much bigger than it’s 86mm stroke. Oversquare engines typically like to rev and make their power at higher RPM. Who else is excited to see some FA24F builds swapped into the smaller WRX chassis?
