Cobb NexGen Flex Fuel kit STI 2015-2021
The NexGen Flex Fuel Sensor Kit is the heart of our NexGen Flex Fuel line up. The NexGen Flex Fuel kit consists of an ethanol content sensor with mounting bracket, fuel lines to be used with the COBB Fuel Lines, a NexGen Flex Fuel module, and a plug-and-play wiring harness to bring it all together.
The OE quality ethanol content sensor is secured to a bespoke powder coated aluminum bracket. Fuel is then fed to and from the sensor with pre-made fuel line with OE quick disconnect. A billet adapter is included to allow for seamless integration with the COBB Fuel Rail Line Kit.
The NexGen Flex Fuel Module is mounted to the passenger side strut tower and handles all of the data processing before sending ethanol content to the ECU to be used by an Accessport-delivered NexGen Flex Fuel calibration.
Tying everything together is a custom, easy to install, plug-and-play wiring harness. Utilizing OE quality wiring and connectors makes adding NexGen Flex Fuel on your supported Subaru both quick and reliable.
The NexGen Cobb Flex Fuel kits utilize an all new module for sensor inputs. If you are using another ECU in your Subaru we also offer VE Flex Fuel sensor kit The VE flex fuel kit also comes complete with -6an inlet/outlet fittings on the flex sensor for a clean race car spec install perfect for those running aftermarket fuel rails and fuel lines.
In the past we would normally use 2 different maps; 1 map for gasoline and 1 map for E85. While this works well it does not allow for any “blending” of the gasoline/Ethanol. Using the Flex Fuel kit you can now simply use 1 map for any gasoline/ethanol blend resulting in more HP and Torque along with un matched reliability, now that you can safely top off your fuel tank with whatever fuel is available you will never need to stress about which gas station you need to stop at again.
Special Tuning offer: All Cobb Flex fuel kit online orders get a $25 credit towards any of our Subaru E-tune services. Brewed Motorsports supports Cobb Flex Fuel through our normal Tuning service as well as our E-Tune services.
Why Do you need Flex Fuel or Ethanol?
Compared to standard pump fuel, the higher ethanol content in E85 provides a substantially higher effective octane rating. The octane rating of a fuel indicates its ability to resist detonation. This added resistance allows tuning to be more aggressive through timing and boost, yielding greater horsepower output. These factors combined make for a fuel solution with more power potential over the standard gasoline you find at the pump. With an active Flex Fuel system, a vehicle’s ECU is able to seamlessly blend calibrations required for each type of fuel. The COBB Flex Fuel kit will allow you to overcome any disparities in ethanol content from station to station or season to season. This is something a standard tune for E85 cannot do. Also, if there isn’t a station with E85 convenient, simply fill up with pump gas and avoid the need to change maps.
